Who we areDixonTown is a free local guide to Dixon, CA, run by Simon Tan, a Dixon, CA resident. Questions about this page go to [email protected].
Reading is privateYou can read everything on DixonTown without an account and without telling us who you are.
What you tell us in a formWhen you add an event, a yard sale, a lost or found pet, a question or a business, we keep what you type and your email. Business forms can also include a contact name, phone, website and logo.
Your email is never shownWe use it to confirm a post is really from you, to follow up if something is unclear, and to pass on replies about a lost or found pet. It never appears on the site.
What appears publiclyOnly the post itself, after it’s checked against our rules. Yard sales show the street or nearest cross streets, never a house number. Pets show the neighborhood, not the street. Home-based businesses show “Dixon, CA” only, never a street address.
PhotosPet photos and business logos are shown publicly once approved. Your browser re-saves each photo before upload, which removes hidden location data. Please only send photos you have the right to share.
The Thursday emailIf you sign up, we keep your email and the interests you pick. We use an email service (MailerLite) to send it. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing takes you off the list.
Visitor statisticsWe use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It uses cookies and collects things like pages viewed, device type and approximate location (city level). Google signals and ad personalization are turned off, so this data isn’t used for ads. You can block it with your browser’s cookie settings or Google’s opt-out add-on.
“Review on Google” tapsWhen you tap a review button, your browser keeps a random number so we count each tap once. No name, email or address is sent. We count taps, not reviews, and only show a town-wide total.
Who helps us run the siteSupabase stores our database and photos. Cloudflare hosts the site. Google provides the visitor statistics. MailerLite sends the Thursday email. Each only handles data to provide its service to us.
We never sell your informationWe don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t give it to advertisers. Future ads and sponsorships on DixonTown won’t receive any data about you.
How long we keep thingsYard sales come down after their last day. Lost and found pets come down after 14 days, or sooner when reunited. Other submissions are kept while they’re useful to the site. Ask, and we’ll delete yours.
Your choicesEmail [email protected] to see, correct or delete what we have about you, or to take down a post. We’ll answer as soon as we can.
ChildrenDixonTown is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child sent us something, tell us and we’ll delete it.
ChangesIf this page changes, we update the date at the top. Big changes will also go in the Thursday email.
